Not quite the progress I was hoping for
Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing
There's no denying in it, this has been one of the albums I've been looking forward to the most for the last couple of years. This album also marks three years without a single CD bought as Avril's last album Under My Skin was the last album I bought. Nothing has changed in the record industry for the better since then, only for the worse, so I'm not going to buy The Best Damn Thing either.
However, I was thinking of doing something I've wanted to do for quite some time but never got around to instead. My plan is to go down to the money exchange office, get 10 Canadian Dollars, look up whatever address you can send snail mail addressed for Avril to and send that money with a letter saying why.
The album isn't out in the shops yet - that method of selling culture is hopelessly out of date - but it is out on the wonderful net of spider made web.
The first song that starts playing when your music library has been updated and the songs added to the playlist is the single Girlfriend. It's a funny and catchy fast pop rock song which will probably speak to a lot of various groups as it's quite diverse in it's own genre, a genre which Avril probably is the best in since Cheap Trick in the 70's and Van Halen in the 80's. No wonder then that it looks to be her most succesful single to date.
