Good ol’ times

I was gonna write some short stuff about this new media player I stumbled across today but after speaking to a friend about old times I started to think of how truly great it was to play handball again. Especially the joy and pride you felt after stopping someone that tried to get through you in defence or the pride after jumping up and blocking a shot so the keeper didnt need to do anything. It might also be because you need to have a really good teamwork to be able to master a good defence in handball. I guess I might feel extra proud of doing a good defensive work due to the fact that I was probably a very central role in the defence, with my yelling at everything and controlling it. It was also so much fun to play with my old buddy Peter in defence, sometimes it was almost telepathic between us.

Good times.

Scoring goals was a different thing however, not because I never was that good at it (except that one time I scored 12 or 13 goals!) but because I've always seen scoring goals as something totally different than stopping someone from scoring. Somehow it was more fun to make it possible to score a goal rather than to actually score it. Guess I was perfect choice for a pivot with this in mind as you're always trying to stop the opposition defence from being able to stop your offensive players from scoring... (sorry, complex sentence that! read it a few times and it might become clear ;))

By the way, the media player is called GMPC (Gnome Music Player Client) and it's a GUI for MPD, music player daemon. MPD takes care of the music and GMPC just shows it and controls it. It's pretty damn fast, much faster than Amarok, has almost the same functionalities, adds some new ones and as it's built in GTK it fits in better in my Gnome environment. I might just stay with this, only thing I haven't got working is the last.fm support.. I'll have to sort that out later.
