Hi blog, I’m still alive!
But no internets just yet. Hopefully that will be fixed tonight though.8 weeks, 53 days, 1272 hours, 76320 minutes, 4579200 seconds. So far.
That's the amount of time (ca ;)) I've been in internets shadow. I'll probably have to got to some kind of reversed internets rehab once I do get the internets back (maybe should be an 'if' there?), otherwise i'll be stunned by the width and size of the internets again...
Apparently NL is a developing country when it comes to the internets, at least when compared to Sweden. I first ordered internets from Orange but as they first promised it would come at one date, then changed it 3 times and finally saying that they didn't know when it just could be activated, I gave up on them and cancelled. Or rather, they gave up on me really. had the damn livebox standing in my apartment for a month with the signal LED blinking, just blinking. Again and again.
I ordered cable internets from Casema instead after a rather long talk with an, at the time, very nice lady at the sales department. When I asked if it were going to work, she promised me it would. I was being sceptical since I was not sure whether I had the first cable connection box in my apartment or not, something I explained to her. She assured me that it didnt matter and that it would work as soon as I would get my cable modem. Stupidly enough, I trusted what she said.
3 weeks later I've got the repairman in my apartment looking at the connection for 2 seconds before saying;
- It's impossible for you to get cable internet here. Ever.
Woohoo.
As soon as he left I called Casema and after a couple of transfers I finally ended up at the right place. The contract was cancelled straight over the phone, I only had to confirm it by replying to a letter they would send. Talk about difference compared to Orange...
But as I'm now quite desperate to get the internets back I thought i'd call Orange to see what the status on my internets was there. As I already have the box from them it should at least logically be the fastest alternative. Of course, I've learned the hard way that Orange probably don't know what 'logic' is.
So I gathered some courage and finally called Orange again. Oh to my surprise when I directly got connected to someone who actually seemed to be able to do her job. That's only the second person out of like twenty I've been talking to at Orange who actually seem to be able to do his/her job. Of course, I still have to see if she actually can do her job, or if she just could sound like it. What she would do was to contact KPN to come to my apartment in order to fix the internet, which Orange thought were working.
KPN have not called yet, almost a full working day after the call. But she said it could take two days though.
The apartment is coming along nicely however and the new job is absolutely great. It's awesome to work with what you want to do when you "grow up" again!
I'm also holding every thumb and crossing every finger I can for Hammarby to beat Cork City from Ireland in the Intertoto cup on Saturday. The first game on Ireland ended 1-1 so there's a good chance at least theoratically. In reality it's Hammarby so as with Orange, logic doesnt really exist.
If we do get through to the next round though, the opposition will be FC Utrecht here from Holland. I don't even know where to begin when it comes to see Hammarby here in Holland. It would be too awesome to even try to describe!
