Hold on Magnolia to that great highway moon…

Never a calm moment

The past month since I came back from Sweden might just have been the busiest month of my life.  I've had so much going on and there haven't been many days where I've come home before midnight. Not that I'm complaining, but it's pretty unlike me since I'm rather lazy! Very fun time though, lots of concerts and the weather has been decent enough as well. I really don't wanna think of it being September and thus, the summer soon being over...

At work it has finally calmed down a bit moving-wise, at least for the moment. We had one big move which we finalized on 31 August and I'm guessing we have to do something similar by the end of this month as well.. But for now we can concentrate on the proper IT support work and work on our projects as well perhaps. If  only it weren't for all the small issues and questions that you now have time to answer, which you earlier did not have. I guess that's the catch 22 of doing IT support.

Could just as well be called 'understaffed' too however..

I've finally also got a new bank instead of SNS bank. SNS bank is the bank I was recommended to choose when I was living in Maastricht and down there it was all fine and dandy since they were perhaps the biggest bank there. In Den Haag it was more problematic, but at least they had an office right in the middle of the city center so going there to withdraw money was really never a problem. In fact in some aspects they are probably better than most other banks since they have a free SMS/E-mail saldo service for example. At ING this costs almost 5 euros per 30 sms they send.

Here in Amsterdam it's worse. The office they have is really off from where I both work and live (it's on the Centuirbaan) and they have no other ATM machines other than in certain HEMA stores.

The worst part however, the one that made me go to another bank is the problematic bankpas. For one reason or other it doesn't work in most public ticket machines. It doesnt work in the NS ticket machines and more annoyingly is that it doesnt work in the OV chipkaart charging machines. I could perhaps have gotten a new card from SNS bank, but since they barely exist here in A'dam I took it as a sign to switch banks, and I am now a customer of the kind of bored/sad looking orange lion of ING. First impressions are good, their internet banking seems to be better than SNS'. And I don't need that annoying little calculator machine anymore. Instead you get a verification code by sms. Really nice!
