Múm at Melkweg
Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason
Amazing this, eh? Another update, just a few weeks after the last one!
Went to see a concert for the first time in months yesterday, haven't done much of that during the summer. As always though, there ain't much to see in the concert halls during summer when most of the bands are out playing at festivals.
Yesterday however Múm had the first gig of their new tour following their latest album called 'Sing along to songs you don't know'. I've seen Múm once before, at Paradiso where they played in the big hall.
For some reason they only played at the Oude Zaal in Melkweg this time, perhaps the bookers thought that a lot of possible concert-goers would still be recovering from Lowlands..
Anyway, the place was packed and even though Múm is a band that are a little uneven at times, their highs are fantastic. On album they can sound a bit low-key, but live they're truly bombastic.
Really great gig all in all, and nice to try out the camera a bit.
Magnolia Electric Co on Thursday at the kleine zaal in Paradiso. their album with the same name as the band, but released under their previous band name songs:ohia is one of my favourite albums, so that will be interesting to see.
