Hold on Magnolia to that great highway moon…

The adventure continues..

I was pretty set on moving back to Sweden this autumn, or at least starting to look for work and an apartment for real around that time.

However, from out of the blue at about 2 weeks ago I wanted to see if there were any attractive jobs up north in the more civilised areas of The Netherlands, up in Zuid- and Noord-Holland. I put up my CV one evening and the next day I was immediately contacted by two head hunting companies, or uitzendburos, who was wondering whether I was interested in a couple of positions they had available.

One of the positions was at Dell in Amsterdam Sloterdijk. It happens to be just across the street from where Micc works as well. Went up there for a first interview exactly two weeks ago, the week before easter. The interview went really well I thought, even though I think I could have done better at the small technical knowledge test they had.

The easter week went by, had some contact with the uitzendburo but didn't get to know anything specific about a second interview until this Tuesday when I was asked to come for a second interview this Wednesday, as in yesterday.

Went up there by train at around 10, got up, ate lunch and then went to Dell for the interview. I was a bit surprised that the person who was gonna interview me according to the informat I'd got weren't there, instead of sending a manager it seemed like they had sent two "normal" eomployees who asked me about my background and my plans for the future and so fort. After sitting down a while talking we went around and looked at the place which was really nice. Seemed like a comfortable and cool working environment, people working together on finding solutions to different problems and so forth.

I did however finally meet the person I was originally gonna meet there briefly, said hi and got an overall very positive experience from it. All in all it was over in about 40 minutes and I told myself not to over think the meaning of what it meant that they had changed the person I was gonna have the meeting with to two different people. However, I could of course not restraint myself from thinking about on the train back home.. I thought however that it was a positive thing. I mean the interview was planned less than 24 hours in advance, if they felt that it was no use of letting the manager take the interview due to them not wanting me, they wouldn't have asked me up there.

So I thought it was a good thing that they had decided to send two "normal" employees, thinking that it was probably to see how I would fit into the team as they might have got a good enough view of me at the first interview.

So all in all I had a very positive feeling and were very hopeful about my chanses. Woke up this morning, made myself breakfast and got to work pretty early as I wanted to talk to L about the interview and so. Didn't more than get to work before the uitzendburo called again though, wondering if I had checked how the notice period worked at my current job which I had promised to look at first thing in the morning and then call back. Took around 10 minutes to do that and informed the uitzendburo about it. The woman I'd been in contact with there said that she was gonna contact Dell regarding the position and say I would be available from about 2 weeks from now, as the notice period is 1 month but I also have a lot of vacation to take out. However it wouldn't be the easiest to find somewhere to live in 2 weeks though so 1 June would be preferrably. She said that she would look into that, but also said that Dell wanted someone as soon as possible.

Didn't take more than 10-15 minutes before she called back again though and after some small talk she said that Dell was flexible and would offer me the position as of 1 June 2007. From that moment on I didn't hear so much what she said as I was so excited but I believe she said that the reasons were me having very good communication and technical skills as well as they believing I would fit in very good in the team..

The rest of the day was kind of a blur, couldn't really concentrate on something. I'm really really excited about this job!

Told Lena about it first thing though of course, it'll be a bit sad to leave that job after all, especially as I've become such good friends with her and we also have a great teamwork which makes the whole job twice as fun.

But oh well.. Around 6 weeks to go.. Have to find a decent place to live before that! Mostly looking in Den Haag.. Seems really nice.
