Take The Power Back
As you might know, Rage against the freakin Machine are re-uniting. Of what first was reported to be for one gig only it appears to be a bit more than that. There's no "one gig only" thing on RATM's website for example, only a quite mysterious message of more info being posted soon.
The timing is pretty nice as well. April is just a few months away from the festival season in Europe, and as they're re-launching their revolutionary music career together on a festival.. Who knows. I'll keep an eye on what kind of announcements Pinkpop, Lowlands and Roskilde makes at least, that's for sure.
I can't find a single reason to why Rage shouldn't re-unite either. After all, they split for a pretty stupid reason in the first place anyway. According to various sources Zack just quit and split the band when the Renegades album was released (why the hell did they record it if they didn't plan to release it?!).

I don't think the music and especially the lyrics ever has been as relevant as they are today, with Dubya being the least popular american president ever for example, no matter how you try to switch, turn and manipulate it. And that's not just outside of the land of the free of course.
Otherwise they could just call it a sell out tour, like The Pixies did a couple of years ago, and get away from elitists trying to bash them that way. Pixies made one of their first gis on their re-union tour at Coachella as well.
- Isn't Apple far worse than M$ right now? The iPhone is said to be about the most closed hardware out there and they probably had the same goal with the iPod. The Mac itself is and has always been very closed (no one else than Apple being allowed or even able to build hardware and sell computers capable of running OS X, I mean, come on!) and so on and so forth. This might of course have both negative and positive sides of to what they're accomplishing, but I think that the main difference between M$ and Apple is that Apple makes sure to package their stuff very neatly as well as some well placed M$-bashing which only works because M$ is so much bigger than Apple. M$ would never be able to bash Apple at their keynotes. And then there's this whole thing about iTunes. What makes .aac so much better than .wma?
- Speaking of Microsoft though, a lot of people I know have decided to maybe not switch, but at least try out Linux. Is this the start of The Escape from Windows Vista?
- Bought Rainbow Six Vegas yesterday and it's a pretty damn cool game actually. But it's ads just about everywhere.. It's pretty ridicilous that every car in Sin City is a Dodge. And I mean every god damn car. Police cars, transit vans, compact cars, station wagons..
- However, I still can't wait for Guitar Hero II to be released for the 360, even though there's a pretty decent replica of the game for PC. But playing with your keyboard, using F1 through F5 as the frets and Enter as the string you're strumming, just ain't the same thing as rawking your sawks off with a Gibson X-plorer.
- Downloaded Killer Queen: A Tribute to Queen the other day by the way, and two of the songs were covers on Bohemian Rhapsody. The Flaming Lips made one of them and I really can't understand why people try to cover that song. I doubt there ever will be anyone else than Freddie Mercury that will be able to sing that song to it's full extent. The singer in Flaming Lips didn't sound so much worse than a drunken bafoon trying to pull that song off during a karaoke event on a cruiser to Finland from Sweden. At least he got the words right!
- Last but not least, this blog is now running the new Wordpress 2.1, with auto saving of the posts you're writing!
